The aura – the subtle body

Quantum physics describes the universe as energy, with energy and matter interchangeable. Psychology, Eastern therapy, and complementary medicine all have terms for life as energy. The aura can be viewed as an energy field surrounding the body, interacting through spiritual and psychological levels via structures called chakras. In other words the aura is an energy field that surrounds the physical body and is discernible to those of psychical sight.

The 7 main chakras have their origin in the physical body but they also exist in all the layers of the aura. The speed and vibration level of the energy is increased with each level. One can say that the human consciousness is manifested on 7 levels or in the 7 layers that is the aura.

How Reiki affects the aura
Before a Reiki attunement a persons aura might normally only extend a few decimeters outside the persons body. The attunement strengthens the aura and gives a permanent aura of about 2 -3 meters. At the same time the consciousness, the inner strength and the ability to intuitively see what needs to be changed in order to achieve maximum health is increased. Through the Reiki attunement and the strengthening of the aura you get the tool to take control over your life and development.

During a Reiki treatment not only the organs and the energy flow within the body are affect but also the different bodies of the aura are affected. When using distance healing or the mental/emotional symbol the aura seems to be more affected than the actual organs in the body.

The different layers/bodies in the aura

The Physical body, is the most tangible manifestation of our consciousness. Its function is to be here and now, to be conscious of what we do: walking when walking, eating when eating etc. We all know the fears of the physical body – sickness, aging and death.

The Etheric body, is a thin invisible layer, approx. 2 cm thick, around the physical body. This is where the energy is reflected when it flows through meridians and chakras. The etheric body or double acts as a template for the physical body and appears as an energy matrix. It is described in Chinese medicine as meridians that transmit chi (ki) through the body. Consciousness is expressed in terms of sensations like physical pleasure or pain.
Many of our dreams can be found in the etheric body. With the aid of mantras, symbols, essence etc. one can affect the function of this part of the aura. Connected to the Root chakra.

The third body is the Emotional body. The emotional body is egg shaped and contains the other 2. This body reflects the feelings and emotions we have. Emotions like happiness, hope, love, anger, sorrow, hate are all found here. The emotional body is also connected to our past which can cause problems. The body is laced with wishes and desires from the past and this can cause tensions. It is important to learn how to handle different emotions during a day, the risk is otherwise that they become suppressed and stored in the emotional body and can later be the cause of blockages and disturbances leading to medical problems. Connected to the Navel chakra.

The Mental body’s function is to teach us self knowledge. The mental body as it’s name implies reflects the conscious mind, logic, intellect and active thinking.
We shape our reality with our minds. Our mind is the constructor, the builder. It reflects our ability through which we develop our learning and personality. Mental heath or mental illness is reflected in this level. Connected to the Solar Plexus Chakra.

The Astral body.  Unconditional love. Connected to the Heart chakra. The astral aura is the bridge between the physical world and the spiritual realm.

The Etheric Template body (divine will) can be identified with memory and our thought processes. Here all our memories, forgotten, remembered or pushed away, are mirrored. The Etheric Template also stores the present and all the possible futures. Connected to the Throat chakra.

The Celestial body mirrors the subconscious mind that is a part of the inactive part of our brain. By listening to your subconscious, your intuition, you can make your journey through life more simple and rewarding. Consciousness expresses itself as higher feelings like universal love; love that goes beyond human beings and friends into a universal love for all life. Connected to the Third eye chakra.

The Causal body (Ketheric Template) is the last body. The energies in this body spins with a very high frequency. This is where the soul communicates with the conscious mind via the subconscious mind in the mental body.Consciousness is expressed in higher concepts of knowing or belief systems. This is where the initial creative impulse begins; not just linear knowing, but integrated knowing. Connected to the Crown chakra.

Reiki Hand Positions

Fixed set of hand positions contra intuitive positions: Traditionally many Reiki practitioners give a whole body treatment covering all the hand positions. This method gives a very good overall healing effect and can be recommended if in doubt about the cause of the problem to be treated. Since the Reiki energy is ‘spiritually’ guided, or said another way intimately connected to everything else, it will in the end go where it is needed. As it passes through the healer they too benefit. Many practitioners have found that by being guided by their intuition they can reach even better results.

Personally I have always found that this is the case. In other words the clearer of a channel you are, the stronger your Reiki will be. Again, as I have said so many times before, there are those Reiki healers who insist that because Reiki is guided on a higher plane it shouldn’t matter, but should or shouldn’t, in the real world, it seems to. This has been proven via Kirlian photography or Aura Photography where people emitting strong Reiki can be distinguished from someone emitting a weak stream of energy. However, as a Reiki healer, the more you heal others, the more Reiki that moves through you, raising your own vibrations & healing yourself. It’s a Pay It Forward thing & generates, really good ‘Karma’.

The effectiveness and ease of use in the Reiki system is based on the hand positions. The Reiki hand positions we use in the Western world probably come from Mrs Takata. According to new findings Mikao Usui and Dr. Hayashi seem to have mostly worked with the head and directly on the problem area.

The traditional Reiki hand positions cover all the important major chakras and quite a few acupuncture points. Traditionally it is also common to give a whole treatment which will take just over an hour and give a very good overall balancing effect. The healing begins with a proper set & setting. Comforting music, incense, candles, and crystals all can add to the overall ambience & effectiveness of the healing simply because it puts the patient or receiver at ease: Though I have done Reiki at car crash scenes on busy highways with sirens blaring & people yelling with an equally powerful effect. Ideally you would then conduct a brief interview, first explaining what Reiki is to the potential receiver, if they need to know & answer any appropriate questions they may have. Next ask them about what they hope to get from the healing; understanding that some people can be uncomfortable talking about their ailments. Knowing this can be helpful but it is not necessary by any means. Basically talking to the Reiki receiver also has the effect of putting them at ease. The more relaxed the receiver is before the session begins the quicker & more powerfully the session will be.

Sei He Ki ~ The Emotional Symbol

Sei He Ki – This is your next Reiki symbol out of three. You now know the Cho Ku Rei, this is the Sei He Ki. This symbol is used for mental and emotional healing, protection, purification, clearing and balancing. It works with the cause of the disease, which is often hidden in the subconscious mind (the emotional body) and/or the conscious mind (the mental body).

Understand that many diseases and problems have their roots in negative emotions and false beliefs. This symbol is used for the healing of bad habits, addictions, emotional trauma and heavy feelings like anger, frustration or jealousy. That makes this symbol another good one against bad vibrations and negative entities. A good symbol for inner calmness and the release of blockages

When the body manifests dis-ease, it is often attempting to deliver a message that there is something that needs tending, that needs attention within the mental or emotional patterns we carry. The mental and emotional healing symbol balances the right and left brain.

Sei = I point
He = the Bow, Arrow to
Ki = Life-force, Light, Awareness

This strange symbol looks like a human head with two bumps on the places of the eighth chakra (the cosmic chakra where divinity connects with our physical existence and place of the soul akasha) and the tenth chakra (place of mystical talents and inner sight).

Therefore alternative meanings of the Sei He Ki are ‘Remember Your Self’ and ‘God and humanity becoming one’. Pointing your arrow to awareness means bringing your attention to your feelings, emotions, patterns and psychology in order to understand and heal them. Sei He Ki restores emotional balance and harmony.

Sei He Ki is especially helpful for healing relationship problems and the issues that stem from them: It’s used for any sort of emotional or mental distress such as nervousness, fear, depression, anger, sadness, etc. It can enhance one’s memory, as it connects with the subconscious mind, where all memories are stored & can be used to enhance the effectiveness of affirmations, causing them to enter more deeply into the subconscious and manifest the results you desire more quickly.

Sei He Ki Is also used to purify food or water, or to clear a room of negative energy, followed by the power symbol. If, during a treatment, a person begins an emotional release, use this symbol to assist in drawing it out and clearing it.

Cho Ku Rei ~ This is the Power Symbol

Reiki Energy will flow without it, but when you use it, it is believed that the energy increases significantly. It would be as if you had changed the bulb in a lamp from 50 watts to 500 watts. Use at the beginning of the healing session and at any other time that additional power is needed. It is geared specifically for healing within the physical body.

The meaning and translation of the symbol: The power of the Universe, the divine light, is assessable to me, to focus. It is the divine creation symbol: The manifestation of the light (the divine energy) on earth. The energy frequent, which you produce with the strengthening symbol, is one of the highest spiritual powers, which you can send out: The clear universal divine Power of light and unconditional love.

Every energy application will get stronger when using this symbol. For this meditation, sit at your computer, or if you downloaded the music, listen to it on your MP3 player or iphone anywhere you like, (Not while driving). If at your computer sit straight & start by drawing this symbol on a piece of clean white paper in front of you, you can later 3 hole punch it for your binder. Then close your eyes & listen to the music, breath in through your nose & out through your mouth if possible. Imagine the symbol, let it float through your mind; ask it to become one with you. Often, the symbol morphs & changes, let this happen: Picture it from different angles, if it were an animal what would it be, if it were a part of nature how would it appear to you.

Lesson Eight~ Reiki Levels

Lets call lesson 8 all the links for all the hand positions that I just posted. I will also go over the different levels of Reiki certification just for your own informational purposes. The good news is that I believe I can certify all of you as Reiki levels 1 & 2, not just at the level one. I have been doing some thinking & see how it is just as easy to certify you for both levels as it is to certify you for the one level. Reiki Level 1

Level 1 is pretty basic. You will be attuned to the Usui Reiki Energy. You will learn how to give (and will also receive) a full Reiki treatment, self treatment, and a quick treatment. You will also learn the basics of energy management, healing vibrations, the chakra system, the aura and the power of thought.

(Nothing too mysterious about receiving Reiki, just lay on the table & relax. When you are a Reiki healer it helps to call in your own Reiki while another Reiki healer, works on you. In fact, anytime you get a healing, from a western medical doctor, or Acupuncture, or even a massage, call in your Reiki to increase the power of that healing).

Reiki Level 2: You will be attuned to the second level of Reiki and learn the healing symbols specific to it. You will also receive a grounding attunement to keep your feet on the ground and your energy well-balanced. You will learn about and experience healing at a distance, cleansing and energizing rooms, preparing meetings and exams etc. as well as using Reiki to manifest ideas.

Reiki Level 3: Master Practitioner Level
You will be attuned to the third level of Reiki and learn the Master Usui healing symbol. You will learn to create your own crystal healing and manifestation grid, perform psychic surgery as well as cleanse and heal auras. This is a powerful level of energy management and requires time and preparation of the first two levels before embarking on this journey.

Reiki Level 4: Reiki Master – Teaching Level
The highest level of Reiki – the teaching level. You will be initiated into this level and will learn the teaching symbols as well as revising all the other levels and symbols. We will also revise and expand working with aura’s, chakra balancing, scanning and psychic surgery. You will practice and experience how to give attunements and we will discuss the giving of Reiki seminars and setting up a Reiki Practice.

Lesson Six ~ General Information

What happens during a Reiki session? A Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied. A session is usually carried out with the recipient lying down, or sitting, in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes easily through all materials, including plaster casts.

The practitioner places their hands gently on or over the body. The recipient automatically draws in only as much energy as is needed, using it in whatever way is most appropriate at the time. Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all. Reiki is deeply relaxing and has a profound calming effect. It is a good idea to rest for a while afterwards and drink plenty of water over the next few days. Be responsive to your bodies needs e.g. resting if tired and allowing the energy to continue its work in the days following the session. The beneficial effects may be felt for several days.

What are the benefits? Illness can be a time of great stress. Reiki can help us cope by encouraging relaxation and bringing balance to both mind and emotions. Benefits include deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well-being; on all levels. Reiki encourages and supports positive personal choices such as improving diet, taking more exercise, devoting time for rest or leisure activities and may reduce the need for alcohol and tobacco. Engendering greater inner harmony and balance, regular Reiki treatments promote a calmer response to life’s challenges. Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, in any situation. Being complementary, Reiki works effectively alongside orthodox healthcare and natural remedies, expanding treatment options.

Reiki affects the Chakras, the Meridians the Aura & all three bodies, Mental, Emotional & Physical. Reiki can enhance everyday living and regular sessions may help to promote development of a healthier, more resourceful state of being.

Effects of Reiki

Reiki most often feels like a warmth coming from the healer’s hands and it promotes relaxation, restoring calm to the body and the mind. Reiki works for the highest good and can never do any harm. It works whether you believe it or not.

It releases blocks caused by negative thoughts and enhances the body’s ability to heal itself. It relieves pain, reduces stress and clears the build up of toxins in the body. It treats the symptoms and the causes of illness. Reiki can be used for the benefit of adults, children, animals, plants, even situations in the present and the past can be helped by sending distant healing.

Lesson Five Subtle Energy ~ Chakras

The next 2 lessons will cover the 3 important elements affected by Reiki healing: Chakras, The Aura and The Meridians.

So what are Chakras? This is truly the subject of an entire course all its own yet it is important that a Reiki healer at least have a basic understanding of what they are & how they work. Chakras are the ‘sacred’ energy centers within that carry us on our journey toward greater awareness & aliveness. As such, they are at the center of our spiritual & physical evolution. As the architecture of the soul, they provide an important map for our wholeness and transformation, both personally and globally. As an ancient spiritual system, they show the path to enlightenment & continued health of the human organism & its consciousness.

The word chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk and signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body that correspond to nerve ganglia branching out from the spinal column. A brief history behind Chakras shows us that they first appeared in ancient Hindu texts, featured in tantric and yogic traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism. Each Chakra is associated with its own state of consciousness, developmental stage of life, archetypal element, body function, color, sound & much more. Together they form a profound formula for wholeness and a template for transformation.

These wheels, or disks spin & most of the time are not spinning evenly, if visualized as the color they are associated with you would see darkness in them where they are weak. When you heal a Chakra & remove this darkness the Chakra strengthens & the issues in life that that Chakra deals with heals. The human chakra system was discovered thousands of years ago, and has been confirmed by numerous proven studies like acupuncture, yoga, and Reiki. This amazing aspect of human health represents the raw energy of the human being. I like to think of the chakra system as the fifth level of our being. We are all aware of the physical body, psychological awareness or Mental body & ‘emotional’ mind where the mental and physical actually meet that we call the energetic body, or emotional body, Emotion being energy in motion.

Many people also choose to acknowledge the spiritual realm of life; by this reckoning we now have four aspects of the human form. The chakra system, with its meridians and auric fields, represents the raw energy the flows through the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual expressions of a human being. It can be thought of as the source power that drives our existence. When certain areas of the chakra system are out of balance, physical disease can manifest in the body. Likewise emotional disorders can occur when other aspects of the human energy system are blocked or out of balance. By correcting imbalances and allowing the healthy flow of energy through the chakra system, so-called incurable diseases can be eliminated; severe emotional problems can be corrected, and so forth. While western medicine has not fully endorsed this concept yet, more doctors are accepting the wonderful reality of the chakra system.

Within the next 50 years it is extremely likely that mainstream medicine will embrace the chakra points system. In fact, the only thing preventing widespread acceptance of chakra healing and chakra wisdom at this time is a politically motivated medical community. Sickness is big business, especially while the pharmaceutical companies maintain their current level of financial influence over medical publications and general practices. But as the human mind continues to evolve and our species moves out of the neo dark age of corruption and self-sabotage, the myriad benefits of our natural energy systems will play an important role.

In addition to advanced healing benefits, knowledge of the chakra system empowers an individual with greater self-knowledge and direct access to the subatomic energy from which all things flow. Science has recently proven the existence of a unified quantum field, or an entangled essential reality at the core of all things; such a truth was spoken of freely thousands of years ago in Vedic and Taoist writings. How ironic, it seems, that we are finding the universal wisdom in teachings made available in ancient times… An exploration of the chakra system requires no specific religious orientation, and no particular spiritual practice. In fact, there is nothing at all mystical or paranormal about the chakra centers and their associated meridians.

One can take a completely scientific approach to the study of his or her own chakra system and base conclusions solely on the outcome of various meditations and exercises. Even the skeptic is likely to be fascinated by the very real and tangible results of such experimentation. I challenge you to empower yourself by exploring the chakra system further, surfing Chakras on the Internet or reading about them from a book.

Chakra Characteristics FIRST CHAKRA – RED Base or Root Chakra: Storage of Kundalini energy resides here: Located at the base of the spine: Associated with Earth, survival, grounding, stillness: Contains the primary 8 cells that have all of the knowledge of creation and remain the only cells in your body that do not change in our lifetime & grounds us in the physical world.

SECOND CHAKRA – ORANGE Called the Sex or Spleen Chakra: Located just beneath the navel, and related to our sexual and reproductive capacity. Blockage manifests as emotional problems or sexual guilt. Also associated with creativity.

THIRD CHAKRA – YELLOW Solar Plexis Chakra: Seat of Emotions: Gives us a sense of personal power & balance in the world. Blockage manifests as anger or a sense of victimization.

FOURTH CHAKRA – GREEN The Heart Chakra: Blockage can manifest as immune system or heart problems, or a lack of compassion. This is the Heart Center – Seat of the Soul in the hourglass of time – The Zero Point

FIFTH CHAKRA – BLUE The powerful Throat Chakra: Tied to creativity and communication. Feels pressure when you are not communicating your emotions properly.

SIXTH CHAKRA – INDIGO The Third Eye, or Pineal Gland: Often connected to the forehead. Is a physical eye at the base of the brain with the capabilities of looking upward. Clairvoyance, psychic abilities, imagination, dreaming. If opened prematurely, psychosis & other mental disorders.

SEVENTH CHAKRA – PURPLE The Chakra Crown: Connects you with messages from higher realms. Can be experienced as a pressure on the top of the head, a spiritual connection, understanding, knowing, bliss & what many understand as ‘God’ a oneness with all things.

Then outside of this, surrounding the human body is the Auric Field, the energy that can be seen with Kirlian Aura Photography.

Lesson Four ~ Reiki Treatments

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an “attunement” given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve one’s health and enhance the quality of life.

During a treatment you relax, fully clothed normally, but not necessarily, on a couch or seated while the healer holds his hands on you. A treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. In the western world many practitioners use the standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body.

There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held slightly away from the body if the patient is uncomfortable with touch. The energy flows wherever it is required all on its own. It can actually be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience for both the healer, who benefits from treating others as this healing energy moves through & heals them, & for the patient who gets a direct dose of the Reiki into their body.

Reiki is an effective healing method that can be used for many ailments like reducing stress, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, asthma – respiratory problems, PMT, menstrual problems, sinus, anxiety and many more. (Please observe that Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.) Reiki – a powerful and gentle healer Promotes natural self-healing Balances the energies in the body Balances the organs and glands Strengthens the immune system Treats symptoms and causes of illness Relieves pain Clears toxins Adapts to the natural needs of the receiver Enhances personal awareness Relaxes and reduces stress Promotes creativity Releases blocked and suppressed feelings Aids meditation and positive thinking & Heals holistically.

Reiki is easy to learn & anyone can “learn” Reiki. The word learn is not quite right as most of us cannot just read about Reiki and then do it. The ability to use Reiki is normally given via an attunement or initiation. There are 3 levels of Reiki: Reiki 1 and 2 and the Master level. Once attuned Reiki is easy to use and your ability to use Reiki will never leave you! Reiki will enrich your life and give you happiness and health on all levels: Eastern medical philosophy has always emphasized the superiority of maintaining good health over curing illness.

Reiki is a preventive medicine par excellence. But it is even more: When practicing Reiki on yourself or others, you experience both its preventive and its curative functions at the same time. If you have a disease, Reiki will cure it, if not; Reiki will promote your health and longevity. This preventive cum curative quality of Reiki makes it a unique healing system. It is natural to be healthy. It is only when certain parts of our bodies fail to function naturally that sickness occurs. The causes may be from bacteria and viruses, organic (toxins) or psychosomatic. Bacteria and viruses are always present in our bodies, but they are kept in check (sometimes even exploited to do useful work for us) as long as our bodies function naturally. Toxins are continually clogging our organs, but as long as we function naturally, these toxins will be neutralized by the chemicals produced by our body.

Our brain is continually stressed, but again, if nature runs its course we will be adequately relieved after sleep and rest. The Eastern concept of health is also wider than that of the West. To be healthy is not just to be free from disease. A person cannot be called healthy if he/she is often restless, irritable or extremely forgetful, cannot concentrate or sleep soundly, and has no zest for work or play.

How does Reiki promote health? First, it frees us from disease; it prevents as well as cures illness. Then it helps us to grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually, giving us the wonderful benefits of health in its wider sense. The preventive and curative qualities of Reiki can be reduced to two simple principles: the cleansing of meridians and balancing of the chakras to achieve a harmonious energy flow. How does Reiki prevent or cure contagious diseases? When disease-causing micro-organisms attack certain parts of the body, reserve energy is channeled to meet these attacks, however when the meridians are blocked, then the flow of reserve energy is hindered, and illness results.

When using Reiki you cleanse the meridians, harmonizing energy levels and promote a smooth flow of reserve energy to the areas under attack, thus restoring the balance. Practicing Reiki increases our reserves of energy, thus preventing any possible future outbreak of illness.

Lesson 3a ~ Reiki Certification

The problem with talking about Reiki with others is that they tend to mystify it. For them, it falls under the realm of supernatural, magical & mystical. I like these words, we can use them & they apply, to a certain extent, but so do the words scientific, quantifiable & real. The only differences in energy are its vibrations. This is true of everything: So a squirrel chasing its tail, a piece of paper sitting on my desk & you reading this post. The only difference is the rate you are vibrating at. Reiki vibrates universally, at a very high level. This is why it heals, it’s pure love, which binds, holds, heals & glues everything back together that has fallen apart, unless to heal the route is by destroying, dissecting & letting go, in this case Reiki helps you undue the damage to get back to a place of balance.Reiki being energy also has its own awareness, so it works without your directing it. All you need do is channel it.
Since Reiki is a real force of energy you can actually see it, using aura photography. I will now posts some pictures showing how Reiki can change your auric field.Originator: https://www.facebook.com/groups/240543172637047/
